Car for a Mom... A Golf Outing Tradition

As we all know, owning a car in the suburbs is not only necessary…it’s costly. For many moms applying to Fellowship Housing securing safe, reliable transportation (a requirement in order to be accepted) is a challenge. The ongoing partnership between Fellowship Housing and the CARS Ministry of Willow Creek Community Church has made it possible for over 46 moms to get into a safe, affordable vehicle. Every year at the Fellowship Housing Golf Outing, the CARS ministry gives a car to one of our moms!

This year’s CARS car recipient, Sarah, is a single mom of three children who will be receiving a 2012 Ford Fusion. She moved back to Illinois after leaving an unhealthy relationship and to help take care of a family member whose health was declining. She hasn’t had a vehicle since moving back in December and has had to rely on public transportation. Getting around with her 9 year old, 2 year old with special needs and 6 month old is not an easy endeavor. This vehicle will help provide her the freedom, independence and flexibility she needs to work, transport her children, and run errands. She is so appreciative and excited to have a car to call her own.
