FELLOWSHIP HOUSING

Empowering single moms to build a new legacy

We believe single moms are some of the hardest working people on the planet. It is our joy and honor to come alongside them in times of crisis so they can re-gain stability, break cycles of poverty, and build a new legacy for their families. If you or someone you know is in need, please reach out and let Fellowship Housing serve you.

ABOUT FELLOWSHIP HOUSING

Fellowship Housing, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, supports single mothers and their children who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. The mission is to empower single moms to build a new legacy. This is accomplished by providing affordable housing, financial literacy training, and educational opportunities to guide single moms and their children from crisis to long-term stability and independence. With locations in Buffalo Grove, Carol Stream, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Aurora, Schaumburg, Streamwood, and Woodstock, Illinois, and serving women from across Chicagoland and the northwest suburbs, Fellowship Housing was started by a local group of concerned citizens who wanted to establish a program that would meet not only emergency housing needs but also facilitate empowerment through teaching skills that lead to sustaining long-term independence. At the start of 2023, Fellowship Housing launched a new 5-year Apartment Location Expansion Project, with the vision that every 7-mile radius in the Chicago suburbs will have access to Fellowship Housing apartments by 2028. Ultimately, the 5-year expansion project will increase the number of families Fellowship Housing can serve at one time to 75–80 by 2028! This will be accomplished by opening one new housing location each year that will serve an additional 8 to 10 families. We are incredibly excited about what this will mean for families in our community who have been just out of reach of Fellowship Housing's life-changing services. We invite you to be a part of this 5-year vision plan to help us continue to proactively pursue local at-risk single moms.

RESULTS
our moms on average...

After googling ‘homeless shelters for single moms,’ Evelyn found Fellowship Housing.

“I wanted to cry with excitement. I knew God was answering my prayers when they told me I got into the program. I felt such a weight lifted off my shoulders. My kids and I finally had a roof over our heads where no one was going to kick us out. We had stability.”

With a supportive and healthy environment, Evelyn was able to go to therapy and reconnect with her faith as she healed mentally and emotionally and worked toward her goals. Over the last two years, Evelyn was able to save $25,000, lost 140 lbs. as she focused on her physical health, and she closed on her Habitat for Humanity home over the summer.

“Fellowship Housing gave me a place of my own that I could afford. For the very first time in my life I had a place to go that I could call home. I've learned how to accept wisdom, guidance, love and help from others. Seeing my son grow in this stable and loving environment is the largest blessing my heart has ever felt.”
