*Anna's Story | Fellowship Housing Renovations
As you may already know, six Fellowship Housing apartments have been undergoing renovations over the last several months thanks to a generous grant from the Village of Schaumburg. The apartments are turning out beautifully (three are already completed and you can see a sample of the kitchens above!). The families who are now enjoying them could not be more excited about their new homes.
Anna wrote in to the staff, “Thank you for the beautiful new apt. The process was a wee bit more challenging than I expected but worth it. ... It was hard to pack while my son was using boxes to build a fort... Haha. I was so overwhelmed that I began to loose momentum.
I finally caved in to call [my Family Advocate]. She showed up like super woman and helped pack and motivate me. She flew up and down the stairs helping everyone. For every box I packed, she packed 10. She knew I hadn't eaten and ordered some food. I would have been days behind schedule if she didn't come. She even took our garbage out. It was an act of kindness I will never forget.
As I write this I noticed that the dishwasher is quiet, the vanity and counter tops are easy to clean and my son has his own room. Pinch me...am I dreaming!?!
Thank you for all the effort it took on the [Fellowship Housing staff] end to get this done! And a special thanks to my advocate for putting up with my stressful calls and working her tail off.”
Thank you for making all of this possible for Anna and other moms like her through your generous support!
