Alexandria's Story

This month, our mom story is extra special. Not only is Alexandria Glaza a Fellowship Housing alumni, but we are incredibly excited to welcome her to the Fellowship Housing staff as our new Office Administrator.

It was back in July of 2016 that Alexandria left her now ex-husband.  She had struggled for 8 years to care for herself and her children though his issues with addiction and adultery. She was in a constant state of fear and living paycheck to paycheck. With very little savings, debt, and a not so perfect credit score, finding a place to live away from his damaging behavior seemed impossible, until she found Fellowship Housing.

Alexandria recalls, "Being accepted to the program felt like an immense breath of fresh air. I immediately fell in love with the budgeting and saving. For once I felt like I was in control of my life. I set my savings goal at $20,000, and I wanted to be debt free with a credit score in the 700’s by the time my 2 years was up."

Well, she smashed her goals. By the time Alexandria graduated, she had surpassed her $20,000 savings goal and was debt-free with a 719 credit score, allowing her to purchase a town home where she and the children could find the long-term stability they had prayed for. She said, "I hope that my kids will be able to look back on our time in the program and use this experience as a reminder that with God, we really can do anything. I hope that the memories of all of our hard work and sacrifice will stay with them throughout their lives."

In her graduation speech, Alexandria shared, "I have a strong desire to give back. I want everyone to know that no matter how far from God you are, how low you feel, or what you have done, there is hope. Especially for single moms. We are strong and we hold a very special place in God’s heart."

Fellowship Housing is incredibly lucky that Alexandria is choosing to give back right here! Alexandria was remarried last summer to a wonderful man who is a local restaurant owner. The happy couple is now expecting their first child in April. In addition to her personal experience of the program and compassion for other single moms, she is also bilingual and comes to us with 8 years of experience in office administration.

On joining the team, Alexandria says, "I could not be more excited to have joined the staff at Fellowship. From my experience as a single mom in the program, to my background in office administration, I feel I can contribute a truly unique perspective on things. I am thankful for the opportunity to be here, and excited to see how God moves in Fellowship Housing in the future!"
