Yolanda's Story
One of the things we value and deeply miss around Fellowship Housing right now is celebration. While we do our best to get creative during Covid social distancing to celebrate the successes and milestones the Fellowship Housing moms reach, there is nothing that can replace the joy of celebrating together in person and hearing the life-change stories directly from our courageous moms at their graduations.
So, we offer you a throwback mom story from Yolanda's graduation speech: A reminder of the important work we get to do with you through Fellowship Housing and and an offering of hope for the day we will celebrate together in person once again.
Yolanda graduated in 2017. Here are some excerpts from her speech...
"I have been in Fellowship Housing for 22 months and have been so blessed by this program. Everyone has been so loving and truly cared for our well-being.

Before Fellowship, my life was unmanageable. I had a strong faith in God even during this time, but I was upside down in many other ways. I was hurting a lot emotionally. I was struggling with addictions and my daughter and I were both physically and emotionally abused by my boyfriend. After I started to realize I deserved better, I made some important choices. The first was to get away from the abuse.

Since entering Fellowship, I am so happy to tell you that God has done a transforming restoration of my life. I am in recovery and receiving counseling for codependency and feeling better than ever. I know I am worthy of love, care, and support. My daughter is also in recovery and has a new outlook on life. The relationship I hoped for, with my daughter, has become real and she even says I am the strongest person she has ever met! With the financial advice and guidelines I received at Fellowship Housing, I have had a budget in place and have been able to save $18,000. I am also proud to tell you I am currently in training to become an insurance agent. None of this would have happened without the help of God and all the wonderful people connected to Fellowship Housing."
