Fellowship Housing Awarded Starbucks Foundation Grant
Fellowship Housing was awarded a $1,000 grant as part of The Starbucks Foundation's Neighborhood Grants program. Nominations are provided by Starbucks partners (employees) who recognize the impactful work of an organization in their area. Fellowship Housing was recognized for our community impact in empowering single moms to build new legacies by providing transitional housing, financial literacy, and wrap-around support for them and their children.
Since 2019, The Starbucks Foundation has awarded more than 10,000 grants to local organizations, amounting to more than $15 million.
Fellowship Housing is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving the needs of single mothers and their children who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The Mission of Fellowship Housing is to empower single moms to build a new legacy. Fellowship Housing accomplishes this by providing affordable housing, financial literacy training, and educational opportunities to guide single moms and their children from crisis to long-term stability and independence. Since 1991, over 1000 single mothers and children have entered the Fellowship Housing journey, with 88% of graduates advancing to independent living. In 2017, Fellowship Housing launched its Legacy Scholarship Program, supporting the post-secondary educational pursuits of Fellowship Housing children.
"We're so grateful for our community. We could not do the work we do without local, caring partners like the employees at Starbucks." - Courtney Burton, Development Director.
The Starbucks Foundation's Neighborhood Grants program supports grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations through catalytic investments in the form of grants. Neighborhood Grants also help build sustained local impact and inspire increased partner (employee) engagement with nonprofit organizations that work in their communities.
"Our partners (employees) know their communities best and have shared great insights about the organizations helping to uplift others in their neighborhoods, from supporting youth and families to fighting hunger and promoting environmental stewardship," said Alicia Vermaele, executive director of The Starbucks Foundation. "Through our latest round of Neighborhood Grants, we're proud to support local organizations nominated by Starbucks partners who make our communities stronger."
