Back-to-School Picnic & Pool Party

On August 11th the moms and children of Fellowship Housing were once again blessed by Hoffman Estates Community Bank, a branch of Barrington Bank and Trust with a back-to-school picnic and pool party. The tradition, which goes back to at least 2006, was continued at Seascape Aquatic Center with swimming, burgers, games and tons of smiles. The joy on the kids’ faces said more about the gratitude felt by them, their moms and the Fellowship Housing staff than we could adequately put into words.

It’s so awesome for the kids to have this day that I wouldn’t be able to pay for – they love it so much, and I get a day where I don’t have to worry about making dinner!”

Each year, the bank lovingly handles the event from start to finish including fulfilling each child’s individual back-to-school supply list, personally selecting their age-appropriate backpack and stuffing it with their supplies, showing up with a hearty meal to serve and sending the moms home with any leftovers. Thank you, Hoffman Estates Community Bank for relieving the hard-working moms of Fellowship Housing of this back-to-school financial burden that they could not afford on their own.

One mom reflected to a staff member, “I look forward to the pool party all year! It’s my favorite event, and not just because I love summer. The kids are really excited to get their backpacks. Plus, it’s so awesome for the kids to have this day that I wouldn’t be able to pay for – they love it so much, and I get a day where I don’t have to worry about making dinner!” It was a beautiful day and now the kids are off and running with a great start to their 2019-2020 school year!
